Teen Use of Eating Disorders Web Sites on the Rise

drgreggjantz | 13 December, 2006 19:56

Teen Use of Eating Disorders Web Sites on the Rise I just read an article on the internet titled Teen Use of Eating Disorders Web Sites on the Rise. The article was in regards to a study about teens with eating disorders and their use of the Internet. This article had some disturbing statistics.

According to the study, nearly half of all the teens had visited an eating disorder Web site. The bad news was that 41 percent had visited a pro-eating disorder Web site, while 36 percent had visited a pro-recovery Web site. Twenty-five percent had been to both types of sites.

HBO "Thin" Documentary-Other counselors believe it falls short

drgreggjantz | 06 December, 2006 22:45

It leaves viewers with the impression there is no hope in overcoming an eating disorder. Which of course is contrary to what I believe. My years of experience say that There is Hope!!!

I thought it would be good to share another counselor's perspective on this movie so readers will understand that I am not the only one that believes there is hope.

Article on Holiday Blues

drgreggjantz | 06 December, 2006 12:55

I have attached a link to an article by Mark Kellner titled, "Holiday Blues: How to Heal, How to Help".

The article is about the fact that many people, even Christians, no longer find joy in the holidays. Instead of being a time of excitement, the joy of being with family members, and remembering what the holiday season is meant to be, many individuals instead are experiencing depression during this season.

I would encourage you to read this article if you are currently experiencing stress and depression. >Link to Holiday Blues Article
